Survey reveals massive teen demand for multiplayer despite silence from Rockstar
The market study was conducted on the teenagers in the US and involved a sample of 9,000 people. It clearly shows a trend of interest in social features of the upcoming open-world game. At the moment, Rockstar Games is still silent on the launch timing and form of the online game. There is a clear disconnect between the consumer demand and official product information.
According to the survey, 40% of the purchasers will also invest in in-game purchases. This clearly indicates a large segment of the user base willing to spend money on top of the initial game purchase. The analysts believe that around 44% of the users will become paying customers for the online game. This indicates a potentially very profitable opportunity of a live service, provided the game launches as planned.
On the other hand, the planned launch will heavily depend on the hardware availability. 7 out of 10 users that own a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S will purchase the game. It clearly shows that the console audience is waiting for the next big title from Rockstar. It's clear that the game is going to generate a large hardware engagement among the teenage audience.
