PlayStation France briefly listed GTA VI with PS5 Pro PSSR and ray tracing before deletion, though a copy- paste error undermines the credibility of the leak.

Grand Theft Auto VI (Rockstar Games) has been in the news again, this time thanks to a short listing on the PlayStation France website. The listing seemed to be aimed at PS5 Pro users and hinted that it would make use of some advanced visual elements. For console users, advanced visual support is an important factor to think about, especially if you're planning an upgrade for some upcoming major games. Unfortunately, the listing disappeared pretty fast and left us in this murky area of unconfirmed speculation.

Unconfirmed features include AI upscaling and ray tracing

The main topic here is Grand Theft Auto VI, the upcoming game from Rockstar Games. The speculation is about the game's compatibility with the PS5 Pro console. This listing, in particular, pointed to two new technical features, PSSR (AI-based image upscaling technology) and Advanced Ray Tracing. These, if true, would bring a big boost in graphics quality compared to regular PS5 capabilities, improving the visual fidelity.

At the same time, there was one glaring mistake in this listing that kind of de-legitimizes the whole thing. Specifically, they mentioned "Atsu's katana" (a weapon used by the protagonist in Ghost of Yotei). This is clearly some kind of a copy-paste error on the website developers' part, and not an intentional feature reveal.

Also, Rockstar Games hasn't actually said anything about these particular PS5 Pro features. So, we're not entirely sure if this was accurate or not.

To refresh your memory, we previously reported on Sony's official page for GTA VI where they didn't mention a 60 FPS mode. Instead, they highlighted audio and loading improvements. So, that gives you some background on Sony's approach to the game's performance on current hardware.

Of course, if these new PS5 Pro claims turn out to be true, it would add another level of graphical improvement on top of that. We've been following these updates closely. One important piece of information is that they don't mention the regular 60 FPS mode.

The presence of a katana from Ghost of Yotei on the page is a clear copy paste error by the web team. It completely undermines the credibility of the PSSR and ray tracing claims until Rockstar confirms otherwise.

at least the page existed for a moment 🤔 ps5 pro upscaled gta vi would be nice if it actually works

Will the PS5 Pro features be available to owners of the standard PS5 console or is this exclusive to the Pro hardware upgrade path?

PSSR is a hardware specific feature tied to the PS5 Pro’s neural engine. Standard PS5 units will not have access to this AI upscaling technology regardless of the game’s support.
