Apex legends is set to have EA's multi-year commitment to bring new multiplayer game modes and experiences to expand the world. This commitment to years of support for a game will ensure that it is a viable choice for someone who wants a steady stream of updates and new content. This caters to the need of player retention that we see in the battle royale space.

EA commits to new multiplayer modes and long-term support for the battle royale title

We have the details in a internal memo from EA Building the Next Phase of EA. This is the broader vision of EA's strategy. We've also learned that EA is working between Respawn Entertainment and DICE on another new shooter.

This reorg within EA involves closing BioWare and the cancellation of early Mass Effect development. So there is a re-org that is focusing on some of the big franchises like Apex legends.

We also learned that these new features will supplement the roadmap for Apex Legends. Which already has the roadmap set up until 2026. There are plans for new legends and map changes that they have in the normal seasonal cycle. EA has committed that core gameplay mechanics will always be worked on to improve while we also get new content.

EA's actual words were that they are going to aggressively invest in the title for the next few years. They are promising new multiplayer modes to come to the platform. We just recapped the last update to Apex legends.

Which had a lot of focus on balance and stability. With this new news, we're expecting to see more of that work to polish the gameplay. They are really putting a focus on the long-term sustainability of Apex Legends being a big part of the games available.

EA is just trying to keep the player base alive. The internal memo is a clear signal that they need retention.

Will the new modes change the core movement mechanics or just add different win conditions? I hope they keep the slide.

the memo says core gameplay mechanics will always be worked on to improve so probably just balance tweaks not a total rework 🤔
