You can now play Metroid Dread on PC with an unofficial port of it, allowing you to play Nintendo Switch game with up to 240 FPS. This opens up the possibility to increase frame rate from the original 30 FPS that defined the experience on console. This means that with high refresh rate monitors you can have a much smoother experience. Also it fixes the issue with uneven frame pacing in cutscenes that caused stutters at high refresh rates.
Community project adds ultrawide support and fixes cutscene stutters
It's unofficial. Community effort. Not from Nintendo.
This is a port that lets you run the game on PC. You need to have your own dumped version of the game, namely version 2.1.0 or later. You need to have your own game data dump. You need to have that first, before you install the port stuff.
Frame rate can go from 60 to 240 FPS. There are two graphics options. OpenGL.
That's recommended. Then experimental native Vulkan. Memory usage is around 2.7 GB for the game itself and 1 GB for runtime+driver. 8 GB RAM recommended to be sure it runs fine.
You can run it with 4 GB too. But you will have longer load times.
You can now play in 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratio. So you can play on ultrawide monitors. Or on laptops that use non standard displays.
Cutscenes and loading screens are now also 60 FPS. Also it's compatible with Xbox controllers. Switch Pro controller.
Joy-Cons. Dualshock 4. Dualsense. 8BitDo pads.
You can download the port here: on the official GitHub releases page. Just another unofficial community mod that gives you higher frame rate and custom options. For PC players.
