Microsoft is now fine tuning the start-up experience for Windows 11 to speed things up. In the same time, Microsoft is optimizing the launch process of Microsoft Edge. The reason it matters is because Microsoft is decreasing the number of temporary background processes, which can bog down the system each time you launch your apps. Basically, you'll start noticing a more responsive experience when switching between commonly-used apps.

New feature routes Edge launches to background instances to reduce system resource usage
As of this moment, you can find this update on the Windows 11 Insider preview builds 26200.9807 and 26300.9807. Microsoft optimized the launch process for Edge to go directly to an existing running background instance and not trigger new temporary processes for each launch. This helps it consume as less system resources as possible during start-up.
To get it working, it's essential that the Startup Boost on Edge is turned on. Otherwise, it won't trigger the accelerated launch process. Microsoft plans to expand this optimization to other apps later. The unlock token will be required for third party developers to leverage this API for their own apps.
When we had our look at the last Windows 11 update, we noticed some similar trends in the stability of the system. In the last update, we've seen the focus on the navigation lag in the Xbox app on Windows 11. Now, with this new acceleration feature, Microsoft continues to balance performance with stability on the system for Insiders.
