The release of Psycho-Sleuth on November 5 changes how players approach narrative puzzles in visual novels. This title introduces a mechanic where the protagonist's cognitive disorders actively distort the evidence available to the player. Buyers who enjoy mystery games will need to question the reliability of every clue rather than simply tracking dialogue options.

PHOSEPO mystery game distorts player perception

PHOSEPO developed this psychological mystery visual novel, which Thermite Game publishes. The story unfolds across PC via and the STOVE platform. The game features 13 Afflicted characters, each possessing unique mental conditions such as OCD and prosopagnosia. These conditions directly impact how the player perceives the unfolding mystery.

The project contains over 500,000 characters of script and more than 50 original music compositions. Developers also included over 40 CGs to illustrate the narrative beats. The demo previously received praise at the Busan Indie Connect Festival and Gamescom 2026. These metrics indicate a substantial scope for a single-player narrative experience.

PHOSEPO producer Xiaolu explained that the team wanted to move beyond traditional mystery formulas. They built cognitive disorder directly into the mystery itself to challenge player trust. Xiaolu stated that players must ask whether anything they have seen or heard can be trusted at all. This design choice shifts the focus from identifying liars to evaluating the validity of perception.

We looked at the demo reception at Busan Indie Connect Festival earlier while tracking indie horror launches. The game is now available globally on PC via Steam and STOVE. Players can begin investigating the Afflicted characters immediately upon release.
