Five classic Super Mario Kart tracks join Knockout Tour and online play

The update introduces new gameplay modes to Knockout Tour, specifically Propeller Rally and Turnip Rally. These additions give players fresh ways to compete in the knockout-style elimination format. The game remains available now for Switch 2 owners looking for more variety.

  • Update Version: 1.8.0
  • Platform: Switch 2
  • New Game Modes: Propeller Rally, Turnip Rally (Knockout Tour)
  • New Courses: SNES Mario Circuit 1/2/3, SNES Ghost Valley 1/2/3, SNES Choco Island 1/2, SNES Vanilla Lake 1, SNES Koopa Beach 1

Nintendo added five classic Super Mario Kart course sets to VS Race, Time Trials, and online play. The included tracks are Mario Circuit 1, 2, and 3, Ghost Valley 1, 2, and 3, Choco Island 1 and 2, Vanilla Lake 1, and Koopa Beach 1. Players can select these courses directly in the standard race menus.

Online and LAN Play room capacity increased to 26 players, supporting 24 racers and 2 spectators. Time Trials now display lap times and use color-coded ghost data, with red indicating faster laps and blue showing slower ones. The update also fixes physics issues like Spiny Shell rail direction and Thwomp recovery time.

When we covered the last Mario Kart World update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. This patch continues that trend by refining technical details alongside the new content. The game ships with these changes already applied for all users.
