Valve has released SteamOS Beta 3.8.26 for users enrolled in the Beta or Preview channel. This update targets critical stability issues that disrupt gameplay on handheld PCs and the Steam Deck. Users relying on FSR or specific Bluetooth controllers should install this version to restore normal operation.
Valve patches critical regressions for handheld PCs and Steam Deck users
The release addresses several hardware-specific regressions found in earlier beta builds. Valve fixed a connectivity break on the MSI Claw A1M that prevented Wi-Fi from working. The company also corrected battery display inaccuracies on Lenovo Legion Go models. These fixes ensure that third-party handhelds function as intended under the latest software.
Performance and rendering issues receive significant attention in this patch. Valve resolved degraded performance when composition is required, a problem that often appears when FSR is enabled. The team also fixed a regression that caused Unreal Engine 5 VR games to show a blank right eye. Desktop Mode users benefit from fixes for Firefox freezing in fullscreen and resolution restrictions below 640×480.
Input stability and peripheral compatibility see improvements alongside the visual fixes. Bluetooth instability affecting the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (v1) has been resolved. The update also prevents the MSI Claw from freezing on resume when an SD card is inserted. We looked at SteamOS 3.8.15 Update Fixes HDR and FSR Performance on Steam Deck earlier while tracking these iterative improvements.
SteamOS Beta 3.8.26 is now available for download through the Steam client. Users in the Beta or Preview channel will see the update prompt automatically. Those not in the beta program must opt in to receive these changes.
