CONSOLES

Sony reported that total shipments have reached 95.3 million units worldwide as of June 30, 2026. This milestone confirms the console remains a dominant force in the home gaming market despite shifting sales dynamics. The update provides a clear snapshot of hardware adoption and software engagement for the current fiscal quarter.

Sony reports 95.3 million total PS5 shipments and 125 million monthly active users

The company shipped 1.6 million PlayStation 5 units during the three months ended June 30, 2026. This figure represents a decrease of 0.9 million units compared to the same period last year. The decline suggests a natural maturation in the console cycle as the platform moves past its initial launch surge.

PlayStation Network monthly active users grew to 125 million, an increase of 2 million year-over-year. This growth indicates that the installed base continues to expand and engage with the online ecosystem. Software sales also showed resilience, with combined PS5 and PS4 titles selling 66.1 million units, up 0.2 million from the previous year.

First-party software sales totaled 6 million units, a drop of 0.19 million year-over-year. Digital full game downloads accounted for 82 percent of all software sales, down one percent from the prior year. These metrics highlight the ongoing shift toward digital distribution while showing slight volatility in exclusive title performance.
