Samsung Galaxy Watch 9, Watch 9 Classic, and Ultra 2 Leak in Code

Simon Ellis 2 min read

A code leak suggests Samsung will launch three Galaxy Watch models this summer: Watch 9, Watch 9 Classic, and Ultra 2, with different processors and a new raise-to-talk feature.

Samsung may launch three new Galaxy Watch models this summer, according to a code leak discovered in a recent Google Wear OS app update. The rumored lineup includes the Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. The company is expected to announce these wearables alongside its next batch of folding phones at an event on July 22.

Code leak reveals three new models

The Watch 9 and Watch 9 Classic are expected to reuse the Exynos W1000 chip from last year's lineup. The Ultra 2, however, is rumored to switch to Qualcomm's new Snapdragon Wear Elite processor. This would mark a shift in Samsung's wearable chip strategy for its premium model.

The leak, reported by Android Authority, reveals three internal codenames: Fresh 9, Wise 9, and Project X2. These correspond to the Watch 9, Watch 9 Classic, and Ultra 2, respectively. The information comes from code strings, not official confirmation from Samsung.

New raise-to-talk feature spotted

A new feature called raise-to-talk may appear on these watches, similar to what Google introduced with the Pixel Watch 4. This would allow users to interact with the watch by raising it to their mouth. The feature is still unconfirmed and based on code references.

Samsung has not yet commented on the leak. The July 22 event is expected to focus on folding phones, with the watches as a secondary announcement. Pricing and exact availability remain unknown.

If the rumors hold, the Galaxy Watch 9 and 9 Classic would offer iterative upgrades, while the Ultra 2 could bring a significant processor change. The raise-to-talk feature would add a new way to interact with the device. For now, these details are based on code leaks and should be treated as rumors.
