Jade Empire (2005 action rpg from Bioware) just got a community port to modern Android devices. The original mobile port was delisted on Google Play and had severe issues running on modern devices. Thanks to a community of developers, there's an unofficial update that makes it possible to play the game again on modern Android phones. This means the full story campaign is now accessible without any of the old issues that made it impossible to play before.
Community port adds 64-bit ARM support to delisted mobile RPG
Jade Empire first released on the Xbox in 2005. It later came to PC and there was a mobile port. The first mobile port in 2016 was from Aspyr.
It had touch controls and could be played on gamepad. At some point the game was delisted from the stores. This left Android users with no option to play it. The community port is meant to deliver the same game, but with an updated structure that's compatible with modern devices.
One of the most important technical updates is support for 64-bit ARM CPUs. This solves the compatibility issues the game was having with modern Android devices. The game now works fine on modern devices that would have rejected the old 32-bit binary. It's essentially the old game updated to be compatible with the modern landscape.
With this updated version, the story campaign should be fully playable. The UI looks similar to what was made for the mobile version, with touch controls in mind. The gamepad support is also retained. This keeps a lot of the usability that made the mobile port unique from the PC / console versions.
