SOFTWARE AND UPDATES

Google is introducing new advertising formats directly into its AI-powered search results. The company plans to embed ads within responses generated by Gemini 3.5 Flash when users activate AI Mode. These placements will appear alongside organic search results rather than replacing them.

The update features two primary ad types called Conversational Discovery ads and Highlighted Answers. Google is also expanding its shopping advertising capabilities into standard search pages. The platform uses the Gemini model to generate custom product explanations for these listings.

Smart brand agents represent another new element currently under testing. This feature allows users to interact with chat windows directly inside advertisements. These interactive elements aim to provide a more conversational experience for shoppers browsing products.

This shift marks a significant evolution in how search platforms integrate monetization with generative AI features. The move places commercial content deeper within the user journey compared to traditional banner placements. It reflects a broader industry trend of leveraging large language models to drive targeted advertising revenue.
