Framework has announced price increases for memory and storage modules across its Laptop 12, Laptop 13 Pro, and Laptop 16 models. The company cited the depletion of lower-cost inventory as the reason for the adjustments.
DDR5 memory costs remain stable
DDR5 memory costs from suppliers have remained stable in recent months, according to Framework. However, the company consumed its inventory of 8GB modules purchased at lower prices and had to raise prices to reflect the cost of newly sourced modules. For other memory capacities, Framework held prices at the same level as the previous month.
For SSDs, the situation is more severe. Framework had kept storage prices below market by selling modules from 2025 inventory. That inventory is now mostly consumed, and new inventory costs multiple times higher. Some current prices are a weighted average of old and new inventory. Framework expects to fully reprice SSDs next month after older inventory is depleted.
As an example of current pricing, a used WD Black SN770 1 TB SSD is listed at 200 USD, and a high-performance SN850X 1 TB is around 250 USD on Amazon. Framework has not confirmed the exact price increases for its own modules.
Framework stated that it is adjusting pricing only as needed to cover cost increases. The company has not provided a timeline for when the new pricing will take full effect across all capacities.
