Forza Horizon 6 will not allow players to destroy cherry blossom trees. The decision is based on the cultural significance of the trees in Japan.
Design director confirms cultural protection
Design director Torben Ellert confirmed the choice to The Japan Times. He said almost all trees in the game are smashable to make traversal fun and rewarding. However, cherry blossom trees are an exception because they are an iconic element of Japanese culture.
Other indestructible features include shrines, temples, and historic buildings. These elements are also protected due to their cultural importance.
The game is set in Japan, and the developers aimed to respect local culture. Playground Games has not confirmed the release date or platform details.
