Splitgate developer 1047 Games has unveiled Empulse, a new 6v6 movement shooter that channels the high-speed verticality fans crave. The studio aims to deliver an arcade-style FPS experience focused on player expression and mechanical skill.
The game features wall-running, grappling hooks, and strategic mech control.
Empulse centers on fast-paced combat where players navigate maps using wall-running, grappling hooks, and Holojumps. These mechanics allow for rapid traversal and momentum chaining, creating a fluid movement system that rewards precision and timing.
A defining feature of Empulse is its mech system, which operates differently from traditional hero shooters. Players must fight to control mechs during matches rather than having them available at all times, adding a layer of strategic resource management to the gameplay loop.
The game introduces P.A.I.N.T. Bombs (Plasma Activated Infusion of Nano-Tech) as special throwable items that alter the battlefield terrain. These devices provide speed boosts, jump enhancements, and new sightlines, functioning similarly to power-ups in classic arena shooters but with environmental impact.
1047 Games describes Empulse as a response to community demand for more movement-focused mech combat. The developers note that their team includes many Titanfall fans who have long sought games emphasizing verticality and expressive fighting styles.
