EA has laid off many staff at the Full Circle studio, the developer behind the live- service game Skate, as part of a wider restructuring effort.

EA has laid off employees at Full Circle, the studio working on the live service game Skate, in addition to its larger restructuring that includes shutting down BioWare and the next Mass Effect game. EA is restructuring its development process by bringing the Skate studio under a smaller and more focused team to deliver a clear roadmap for the future. They're doing this to create a healthier and more sustainable business for the community, EA says in a statement.

Senior staff depart as EA shrinks the developer behind the live-service game

EA is making a change to the development team of Skate, a game that hasn't been able to grow its player base, even though it's held steady. The Skate team consists of people from the original Black Box studio and have a lot of history. However, they haven't really been able to crack a larger market share, so EA is looking at how to handle the game.

According to EA's statement, they are restructuring to deliver a smaller and more focused team to provide a clear roadmap for the long-term future. EA says they believe the smaller team will be a healthier and more sustainable business for the game franchise. Senior team members, like the Creative Director John Epler, have said their roles are being eliminated as part of the studio changes.

Several of the senior members, including Creative Director John Epler, Senior Game Designer Adam Martinazzi, and Senior Designer David Milne have all announced their exits through their social media accounts. John Epler, an EA veteran of nearly 20 years, has posted on LinkedIn about his role being eliminated. He is a little nervous, but is excited about what's next. After so long at EA.
