Dark Souls II players can now tackle the game with up to five friends without the usual multiplayer restrictions. A new mod removes the barriers that typically separate solo runs from cooperative adventures. This changes how the community experiences the game's difficult combat and exploration.
Modder Yui releases tool for persistent six-player cooperative sessions
The Seamless Co-Op Mod was released by a modder known as Yui. It allows the host and five other players to stay in the same world even after death. Players respawn at the last bonfire rather than being kicked back to the menu.
The mod uses a new peer-to-peer networking system built on Steam's latest tools. It synchronizes NPC dialogue and world events for all participants. Boss kills and cleared areas do not terminate the session, allowing for continuous play.
Progress made during co-op carries over to each player's individual save file. The update includes quality-of-life features like borderless fullscreen and better controller support. Optional difficulty modifiers let players scale enemies or trigger a curse system that increases challenge after deaths.
