Dataminer has recently found unused parts of levels in the original Dark Souls II files. A big coliseum and an underground tower – these locations were not added in the final version. A great opportunity to understand how FromSoftware worked, also a great example of how old materials come into action after years with the help of tools made by people.

Dataminer uses Nightreign engine to visualize cut coliseum and tower

For a fan of the game history and the modding community, these pieces of knowledge will be especially interesting. They demonstrate how many things were removed at the time of creation.

Dataminer Doneda used Elden Ring Nightreign engine in order to load and display the remaining pieces of levels. Thanks to this trick, it was possible to restore those places that were not used. So, we have a big coliseum.

And there is a unique level underground with a tower. The possibility to look at these fragments is an invaluable proof of the amount of abandoned content.

Dataminer supposes that there could be a link between those level fragments, with what was called the "Undead Crypt" place. We assume that some of the levels fragments found could be a part of a huge place. But it has been discarded later.

These locations may be related to the "Undead Crypt" place. These are probably some huge locations that were not implemented in the end.

Unused resources from FromSoftware games are sometimes used in the next games or by modding community. So, it is important news. We are constantly following Dark Souls II and already wrote about the Dark Souls II Seamless Co-Op Mod, which supports the presence of up to six players without dispersion after death. So, this information is a new brick in the history of the game, and in the history of its preservation using tools.

So, we can say for sure that a lot was created, and then cut from Dark Souls II. Coliseum and underground tower – just digital relics that can be restored by special modding tools. It's just a fact. It is an illustration of undeveloped things from the game.
