Infinity Ward has made some significant changes to how survival works in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ. The update focuses on one particular perk that was being exploited to use death as a weapon in combat. This fix is in response to player feedback about the way the perk was being used in DMZ. Specifically, players were using it to seek revenge in combat, instead of simply surviving.
Infinity Ward adds 4-minute delay and proximity restrictions to stop ambush tactics
The perk in question is called Possum. It's a perk that allows players to bring themselves back to life after death. Previously, players could immediately get up after dying and begin fighting the team that killed them. Infinity Ward said that the perk was designed to allow players to keep playing, not as a second chance to kill people.
Now, players will have to wait a minimum of four minutes before they can use Possum. Additionally, the perk will be disabled if the team that killed you is near. This will eliminate the ambush effect that annoyed a lot of the community.
Infinity Ward has pushed this update to address balance in DMZ gameplay. Infinity Ward emphasized that the intention of Possum is as a safety net, not as a weapon. This is an effort to ensure that everyone is having an even playing field in the mode.
Some of the same balance and stability elements were evident in the previous Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 update that we wrote about. This new update follows suit, focusing on specific gameplay mechanics that throw off the experience.

This is exactly what was broken. Possum was never meant for combat.
