Asus has introduced the XG Core, a new external graphics dock designed to expand the gaming and creative capabilities of compatible laptops. The device leverages desktop-class GPU technology in a compact form factor, targeting users who need high performance without committing to a full-sized tower.

The portable docking station houses a low-power desktop-class chip for expanded laptop gaming and creative workflows.

The XG Core houses an Radeon RX 9060 XT LP (Low Power) graphics processor. This chip delivers substantial graphical horsepower while maintaining a lower thermal profile than standard desktop variants, making it suitable for integration into a portable docking station.

Specifications

  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT LP (Low Power)
  • TDP: 140 W
  • VRAM: 16 GB GDDR6, 128-bit bus @ 20 Gbps, 320 GB/s bandwidth
  • Compute Units: 2,048 cores and 32 Compute Units
  • Interface: USB4 routing to DisplayPort or HDMI outputs

Under the hood, the GPU features 2,048 cores and 32 Compute Units. It is paired with 16 GB of GDDR6 memory running on a 128-bit bus at 20 Gbps, yielding a memory bandwidth of 320 GB/s. The entire graphics subsystem operates within a 140 W power envelope.

Connectivity relies on USB4 to route video signals to external displays via DisplayPort or HDMI outputs. This architecture allows users to connect high-resolution monitors directly to the dock while maintaining a clean desk setup with minimal cable clutter.

Asus did not disclose pricing or release dates for the XG Core during its Computex 2026 presentation. The company confirmed that details regarding cost and availability will be shared at a later date.
