IO Interactive has now launched the 007 First Light Free Starter Pack for PC and /S to provide players immediate access to the first mission in the game without having to shell out money to actually buy the game. This is a good way for potential players to get a taste of the core gameplay and story before deciding whether to buy the game.

Free demo mission launches on PC and Xbox with progress carryover to full game

This is particularly important for those wondering about how the game is paced, and how it will run on their particular hardware. Players will be able to experience the 'Against the Odds' mission taking place in Iceland as part of the Free Starter Pack.

Any progress made in this demo mission will be saved and carried over to the main game after purchase. The 007 First Light Free Starter Pack is available right now for and Xbox Series X/S.

The version of this starter pack is launching 5 days later on November 10. There is also a port coming out for on March 18, 2027.

So this game will also be available on next-gen handhelds down the line. At any rate, PC and Xbox players can dive into the free starter pack right now.

While PlayStation players will have to wait for the mid-November launch. 007 First Light on PC requires a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or 11 with at least 80GB of free SSD space. To run the game, the minimum PC requirements are Core i5-9500 / Ryzen 5 3500 with 16GB RAM and an GeForce GTX 1660 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 GPU.

Recommended specs are an Intel Core i5-13500 / AMD Ryzen 5 7600 with an Nvidia 3060 Ti / AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT. IO Interactive is giving out massive discounts for the full game across all platforms to entice players to convert from the Free Starter Pack.

On Steam and Xbox Series X/S you can grab the full game 40% off between November 5-9 and November 15, respectively. 50% off on PlayStation 5 until November 30. Note that these discounts are for the full game, not just the Starter Pack.

The game has had a few recent updates to make it more stable and introduce new game modes. For example, they had a 1.1.0 update on July 24 that added TacSim missions.

And 1.3.0 came out on October 1 adding New Game+ and Photo Mode. When we covered the latest 007 First Light update there were a few similar balance and stability topics.

So, there seems to be a consistent focus on making the player experience better. Now they're giving out discounts and free content to help new players jump in for less money.

So the 007 First Light Free Starter Pack is out now on PC and Xbox. It will be coming to PS in November.

And for Switch 2 in March. The full game is now discounted across all platforms until the end of November. You can jump into the free mission now and bring your progress over to the full game, should you decide to play further.

Progress carryover is the only reason to touch this. The rest is filler.

Does the demo mission include any of the new TacSim features from the July patch or is it just the base combat?

The article mentions the starter pack is the ‘Against the Odds’ mission. That is the opening sequence. TacSim missions were added in update 1.1.0 as separate content. You will not see them in this free demo.

50% off on PS5 until Nov 30 is actually generous. I might wait for that.

  4. coldboot

80GB SSD space is massive for a single mission demo. IO needs to clarify if that is the full install size or just the demo footprint.

Is the Xbox version optimized for Game Pass or is it a separate purchase in the store?

    1. iron_will

It is a separate free download on the store. It is not bundled with Game Pass subscriptions.

my gtx 1660 might choke on the recommended settings but i will try the min spec

Just play the original GoldenEye on N64. It has better stealth mechanics and no microtransactions.
