Rockstar Games sells Leonida map poster for $0.99 as GTA VI physical copies drop discs

Rockstar Games removes game discs from GTA VI physical editions, replacing them with digital codes and a $0.99 Leonida map poster.

From now on when you purchase the physical copy of Grand Theft Auto VI, you don't get a game disc in the package. Instead you get a digital code to download the software. As a result, the only way for collectors to fill their shelf space is with some extra pieces of secondary stuff. Today, Rockstar Games monetizes what was a free map poster for the game.

Physical copies now ship with digital codes and a paid map poster instead of game discs

Grand Theft Auto VI is coming out on the 19th of November 2026. When you purchase it, you'll get a double-sided map poster for the fictional state of Leonida. The poster is available for purchase through Rockstar Games for 0.99 USD ($0.99 approx.) This replaces the physical media that characterized earlier GTA titles.

So, with the physical copies of the game, you get only a digital code and a poster. A map poster. The map shows the in-game locations in Leonida.

Optical disc is completely out of the package. The main physical collectable for the launch period is the poster.

Here's how people are reacting to the pricing policy. Someone says it's a classic move for Rockstar – charging for the map that used to be free. Another guy says that Rockstar could've been better for gamers. Not to mention the international shipping prices which could be in the range $20-30 in some parts of the world.

The launch date is November 19, 2026. The map poster is on sale for the price mentioned above. And instead of the disc (for physical copies in retail) you get a digital code.

So that's the new way it's gonna be. A permanent change to the release packaging.

Charging for a map that used to be free is classic Rockstar. They know we will buy it anyway.

Will the poster be double sided as mentioned or just a single print on cardboard?

The article specifies a double sided map poster of Leonida. It is the main physical collectible now that discs are gone.

99 cents feels like a lot for paper tbh. I just want the game on my shelf.

The real issue is international shipping. $20 to $30 extra to get it to Europe makes the poster cost way more.

maybe they will include it free with digital pre orders 🤔

It is a permanent change to the release packaging. Collectors have to adapt to the code only model.

I will wait for the grey market stock. Retailers might bundle it with other items to move units faster.
