Offworld Studios released update 13 of Starship Troopers: Extermination in late October. The update added a new aerial menace that alters the dynamics of ground combat. Specifically, Offworld introduced flying arachnids known as Hoppers, which pose a new airborne threat to players.
Update 13 introduces airborne Hoppers and a new training mode for the shooter
These creatures can swoop in from the air and even snatch fully geared troops. The update requires players to rethink their defensive strategies and emphasize anti-air assets to ensure their squad isn't taken out of the fight.
Along with update 13, Offworld also launched two new paid DLC packs — the Sparta Supporter Pack and the Gore Supporter Pack. These packs provide players with more ways to personalize their experience with new cosmetic and gameplay elements, allowing them to further customize their loadouts beyond the base game. This update is part of Offworld's ongoing content roadmap for Starship Troopers: Extermination, with both free and paid content releases to keep the community engaged.
In addition to the new enemy, update 13 features a new firing range/training mode. This new feature is meant to give players a space to experiment with weapons and strategies. The update also includes various bug fixes and UI improvements to enhance stability and gameplay experience. The new training mode offers players a place to hone their skills in a more controlled environment without the pressures of real-time combat.
Offworld celebrated the game's third anniversary by releasing a free cosmetic set, Third Wave, for all players. The free cosmetic set is part of Offworld's DLC offerings, allowing everyone to enjoy new aesthetic customization options. The company chose to bundle the anniversary content with technical updates to celebrate this significant milestone.
