Microsoft has a ticking clock to rescue Arkane Studios and it's a very important part of its big game lineup future. A new owner needs to be found for the studio before November 13 or it's going to close its doors. The deadline of November 13 adds a very urgent cloud to both the studio's recent hits and the gaming space as a whole.
Microsoft seeks partner for Blade as over 200 jobs are at risk
Microsoft first-party studio Arkane Studios makes very unique action-RPG games, but the studio is under Microsoft. In the summer of 2026, Arkane plans on cutting jobs. Now that has become an all out studio shut down on the table.
The biggest technical IP in question is the Marvel's Blade game that's being developed right now. Microsoft said it's looking for a partner to help with the next phase of development to get the Blade game to commercialization. It's said to be very close to completion, according to Printemps Ecologique's union members. Microsoft hasn't confirmed this.
Arkane Studios made such critical hits as Dishonored and Deathloop. There's potentially over 200 jobs at stake as we edge closer and closer to November 13. What happens here is going to lead to these projects' future. Does it get out as is under Microsoft, or under a new owner?
Microsoft has a deadline to sell/partner up for Arkane by mid-November to save it. It's just saying it's looking for a partner for Blade, not that it's shutting down, publicly. There's a lot of flux until that deadline hits.
