Ugreen has released the LinkStation Pro, an upgraded external GPU dock that brings Thunderbolt 5 connectivity to desktop users. This shift matters because the new interface doubles the data bandwidth to 80 Gbps, which helps high-end graphics cards like the RTX 5090 run faster than before. Buyers who rely on external GPUs for gaming or AI tasks now have a clearer path to better performance without upgrading their entire computer.

Upgraded dock doubles bandwidth to 80 Gbps for RTX 5090

The LinkStation Pro serves as a bridge between a laptop and a powerful desktop graphics card. It replaces the older USB4 connection with a faster Thunderbolt 5 port while keeping the 64 Gbps OCuLink port as an alternative for compatible devices. This dual-port design gives users flexibility in how they connect their hardware, ensuring that older and newer components can both utilize the dock effectively.

Specifications

  • Interface: Thunderbolt 5 (80 Gbps), OCuLink (64 Gbps)
  • Power Supply: 850W ATX 3.1-compatible
  • Power Delivery: 140W
  • GPU Compatibility: Up to 370 mm long and 155 mm tall
  • Ports: 3x Thunderbolt 5, 1x USB-A 3.2, 1x OCuLink

Technical specifications highlight a significant upgrade in power and physical compatibility. The dock includes a built-in 850W ATX 3.1-compatible power supply, which removes the need for an external brick. It can also supply up to 140 W of power to high-end gaming laptops through the Thunderbolt 5 port. The internal space accommodates graphics cards up to 370 mm long and 155 mm tall, fitting most modern high-performance GPUs.

Connectivity options expand with three Thunderbolt 5 ports and one USB-A 3.2 port. Ugreen states that the new model supports daisy-chaining multiple eGPU docks, which allows users to stack additional graphics power for accelerated gaming and AI tasks. This configuration enables users to build more complex setups than previous generations allowed.

The LinkStation Pro is available now in China for 2,999 yuan (around $447). There are no official global launch details yet, so pricing and availability for other regions remain unknown. Users outside China will need to wait for further announcements from the vendor or retailers.
