Yamaha has confirmed it has no plans to release a 4K Blu-ray player. The company cited low sales volumes as the main obstacle to entering this segment. This decision reflects the broader lack of viable market opportunity for standalone disc players.
The decline in standalone players is partly driven by console manufacturers like Sony and Microsoft selling disc-less console variants.
