SteelSeries released the Aeon Pro on September 8, 2024, as its first flagship controller designed for home consoles. This launch matters because it targets the growing number of gamers who play on both Xbox and PC without wanting to swap hardware. The device aims to simplify this workflow by offering instant switching capabilities that reduce setup friction. Buyers who juggle multiple platforms will find this consolidation useful for their daily gaming routine.
Tri-mode controller ships with QuickSwitch dock for instant platform switching
The controller supports Xbox, PC, and mobile devices through tri-mode connectivity. This includes 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and a wired USB connection. SteelSeries designed the Aeon Pro to function as a unified peripheral across these distinct ecosystems. Users can connect to their preferred device using the method that best suits their latency and stability needs.
Key specifications include Hall effect thumbsticks and triggers for durable analog input. The face buttons are mechanical, providing a tactile click response distinct from standard rubber domes. Four back paddles allow for remappable actions without taking thumbs off the sticks. The unit weighs 310 grams and features an OLED smart display for status information.
SteelSeries includes the QuickSwitch Dock to facilitate seamless transitions between Xbox and PC. This dock allows instant switching without requiring users to re-pair the controller or change settings. The dock also supports the Infinite Battery System, which uses batteries compatible with the Arctis Nova Pro headset. This feature enables continuous play by swapping charged batteries while the other charges.
The Aeon Pro is priced at $260 USD. It ships in black and white color options. The controller comes with four types of thumbsticks: concave, convex, standard, and long. This variety allows users to customize the grip and height to match their hand size. The device is available globally as of the announcement date.
We looked at previous SteelSeries controllers while tracking this launch. The Aeon Pro positions itself as a premium solution for cross-platform users. It combines hardware inputs with software management tools for a complete experience. The inclusion of the dock and infinite battery support justifies the higher price point for dedicated users.
The SteelSeries Aeon Pro is now available for purchase. It offers a dedicated solution for gamers who need to switch between Xbox and PC frequently. The hardware specifications and included accessories provide a complete package for this specific use case.
