Hardware moves 50,000 units while software sales confirm platform dominance

The hardware sales data from Famitsu reveals a clear hierarchy in the Japanese market for the week ending July 26, 2026. Nintendo's Switch 2 moved 50,168 units, establishing a significant lead over rival consoles. Sony's family sold 9,184 units, while the legacy original Switch family still found 7,167 buyers. Microsoft's Xbox Series family remained a niche presence with just 151 units sold.

Software sales mirrored the hardware dominance, with Splatoon Raiders emerging as the clear winner for new titles. The game sold 474,684 retail copies, capturing a massive share of the weekly new release market. Other notable new entries included Rhythm Heaven Groove, which moved 78,355 copies, and The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten: Memorial Vacation.
