Warframe: Tau expansion arrives December 2026, introducing the 67th Warframe Brisco, voiced by Matt Mercer, and the new Tau star chart.

A huge expansion is being prepared by Digital Extremes for Warframe, one that will change the setting to a new sector in space. This is an important change, as it will bring us the 67th playable character. Also, it will bring us a new star chart to explore! 'Warframe: Tau' expansion will launch in December 2026, so here is when fans can expect the next leg of the Warframe experience.

New star chart and premium Chimera skin details revealed for December 2026 update

The star of this expansion is a new Warframe: Brisco. His character is inspired by a world-weary noir detective. We know from Digital Extremes that the inner monologue of Brisco is voiced by Matt Mercer. The new character means that we have more playable avatars for the community to enjoy.

The new star chart (Tau) has the ring city of Fornax, and wastelands of Perita. The area is described by the developers as a new sector in space outside everything the players have known. You'll be able to join missions and explore the new worlds, but there's still lots to do in the Origin System.

The new class of premium customization is a 'Chimera' skin. Brisco's skin will let you toggle on the fly between his Warframe and Chimera. The toggle will give him Sentient traits and corresponding voice lines, much like protoframes.

Matt Mercer voicing an inner monologue for a Warframe is a bold choice. I wonder if the audio engine handles the dynamic layering with the Sentient Chimera state without clipping.
