Valheim leaves early access on September 9, 2025, with its 1.0 update. The final biome, the Deep North, brings the game to a close after years of development.

Deep North brings new enemies and weapons

Developer Iron Gate has been developing Valheim in early access since 2021. The 1.0 release marks the completion of the core game, but the studio plans to keep adding content.

The Deep North is the last biome, designed to evoke the eerie, empty feeling of earlier zones. New enemies include the Gammeltroll and Elakingar. Players will find new weapons such as Nord axes, greatswords, bows, a Frostfire crossbow, and a grappling hook.

Price increase and free updates planned

Two new dungeon types appear: Winding Tunnels and a tower leading to the Gates of Mökhalla. Iron Gate recommends starting a new world to experience all changes. The final boss is not Loki, despite player expectations.

A price increase is expected at launch. Free updates are planned, but the studio has not decided on paid DLC yet.

Iron Gate wants the Deep North to recapture the vibe of earlier biomes. The game remains a 'canvas to continue painting on,' according to the studio.
