Samsung is preparing the Galaxy A18 for release, and the choice of processor signals a focus on battery efficiency rather than raw power. Buyers looking for a budget-friendly Android device should note that this model targets everyday tasks like messaging and web browsing. The device relies on an older but proven chipset to keep costs down while maintaining stable performance for casual users.

Benchmarks confirm entry-level Helio G99 chip and stable software stack

The Galaxy A18 LTE variant runs on the MediaTek Helio G99 system-on-chip. This processor launched in 2022 and prioritizes power efficiency over high-end gaming capabilities. The phone ships with 4GB of RAM to support the operating system and background apps. This configuration suggests Samsung is targeting the entry-level segment of the smartphone market.

Galaxy A18 LTE Specifications

  • SoC: MediaTek Helio G99
  • RAM: 4GB
  • OS: Android 17
  • UI: One UI 9
  • Geekbench Single-Core: 744

Software performance on the device appears stable based on early benchmark data. The phone runs Android 17 paired with One UI 9. Geekbench tests show a single-core score of 744 and a multi-core score of 2,064. These numbers reflect the Helio G99's architectural limits but confirm the software stack is functional.

A separate 5G version of the Galaxy A18 is also in development. Leaks suggest this variant may switch from an Exynos chip to a Snapdragon processor. Samsung has not yet confirmed the exact launch date or final pricing for either model. The device is expected to arrive in late Q3 or Q4.

We have been tracking Galaxy A18 closely and covered the Snapdragon switch for the 5G model earlier. Samsung remains confident that the Helio G99 will handle the Galaxy A18's workload adequately. The LTE model will likely serve as the primary entry point for users who do not require 5G connectivity.
