Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G in Japan, marking a shift in how mid-range smartphones handle power. The device carries a massive 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is the largest capacity we have seen in a Xiaomi phone to date. Xiaomi claims the new battery lasts up to three days on normal use. The company states that 100W wired charging can refill a full day’s charge in just 20 minutes. The battery also retains more than 80% of its capacity after 1,600 charge cycles. The device supports 27W wired reverse charging for other gadgets.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G features a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. A 32MP sensor handles selfies. The phone carries IP66 and IP68 water resistance ratings and is certified to survive drops from up to 3 meters. It weighs approximately 229.5 grams.
Xiaomi is offering the 8GB/256GB model for 79,980 yen (around $502). The 8GB/512GB version costs 99,980 yen (around $628). The company is applying a 10,000 YEN (around $62.80) discount to both models, lowering the prices to 69,980 yen (around $439) and 89,980 yen (around $565) respectively. The device is available for purchase in Japan starting August 17, 2026.
