Ubisoft is launching the Year 11 Season 3 update for Rainbow Six Siege, titled "Split Fire," on September 1. This update reshapes the tactical shooter's meta by introducing a new defender operator designed to counter shield-heavy strategies. Players who rely on aggressive pushing tactics will need to adjust their loadouts to handle the new defensive tools. The release also brings targeted map changes and balance adjustments that affect existing operator viability.
New defender Noor counters shields while Villa map sees basement bomb site shift
The headline addition is Noor, a new defender operator equipped with the Horus Lance Launcher. This gadget fires five projectiles capable of piercing shields and destructible surfaces, directly challenging the utility of shield-based attackers. Noor can equip the Commando 9 and ALDA 5.56 as primary weapons, alongside the 1911 TACOPS and Bailiff 410 as secondary options. This loadout allows her to hold angles while providing area denial through her unique launcher.
Existing operators face significant balancing changes that alter their current roles. Kali receives updates to her CSRX 300 sniper rifle, gaining 3.5x and 8x magnification options while seeing reduced pump time and increased magazine capacity. Dokkaebi undergoes a more drastic shift, as her Impact EMP Grenades are replaced with Breach Charges. Her Jegeo Payload now requires a continuous connection to complete, making it more vulnerable to interruption during active engagements.
Map geometry receives a specific adjustment on Villa, where the Living Room and Library bomb site moves to the basement. This change alters sightlines and rotation paths for both attacking and defending teams on this classic map. The update also includes visual improvements for Stadium Alpha, Stadium Bravo, and House, refining the aesthetic presentation of these environments. These visual updates aim to improve clarity without changing the underlying tactical layout.
Ubisoft is introducing a new 3v3 Arcade Mode that builds upon the structure of the previous 1v1 Arcade mode. This smaller-scale format offers a faster-paced experience for players looking for quick matches outside of standard 5v5 ranked play. We looked at the last Rainbow Six Siege update earlier while tracking similar balance and stability themes, and this new mode continues the trend of diversifying gameplay options. The update launches globally on September 1 with no additional cost to existing players.
