Leaked gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto 6 has surfaced, offering the first detailed look at the open-world mechanics and world design before the official reveal. This matters because the clips reveal significant changes to core systems, including a new six-star wanted level and expanded RPG elements that could reshape player interaction with the game world. The leak provides concrete details on map layout and police evasion tactics that fans have been waiting years to see.

Leaked footage shows expanded police evasion and RPG mechanics

The footage, attributed to a hacker group called Cyberleek, shows gameplay from a build that likely dates back to 2023. Industry insider NateTheHate confirmed that the clips appear to be from an older version of the game, which explains some of the rougher edges visible in the video. Rockstar Games and its parent company Take-Two Interactive have already issued DMCA takedown notices in an attempt to remove the content from the internet.

Key mechanical changes include a six-star wanted level interface, replacing the traditional five-star system seen in previous entries. Players can now see their vehicle's health status, including engine integrity and fuel levels, during high-speed chases. The footage also highlights a stealth mechanic that notifies players of their proximity to being spotted by police, adding a layer of strategy to evasion.

The game introduces RPG-like stat systems, such as a stamina meter for melee combat and a focus boost for mini-games like basketball. The leaked map reveals five distinct districts: Lummox, Leonard, Kelly, Vice-Dale, and Mariana. While the map's low resolution has led some to question its authenticity, the district names provide a clear geographical structure for the new setting.

Cyberleek released the footage to protest what they describe as anti-consumer behavior by Rockstar and Take-Two. The group issued a manifesto stating that the leak was intended to draw attention to these corporate practices. Until Rockstar provides official confirmation, these features remain unverified, but the leak has already sparked intense discussion about the game's direction and release timeline.
