Kinetic Games released an update for Phasmophobia on June 2, bringing version 1.000.040 to PC and console players. The patch addresses player feedback by re-introducing the VR belt feature, which lets users switch equipment between a waist-mounted belt or shoulder slots during gameplay.
Kinetic Games restores line of sight ghost speed accelerations and fixes Spirit Box softlocks in the latest update.
The patch supports virtual reality and standard display modes on PC and consoles. VR players can now use text input for the Spirit Box, Monkey Paw, and Ouija Board to interact with ghosts.
Fixes address softlocks, ghost behavior bugs, and item placement errors. The patch restores line of sight ghost speed accelerations to their original values after previous adjustments caused confusion. Developers also fixed a softlock issue preventing progress when interacting with the Spirit Box before Truck CCTV activation, alongside corrections for Kormos enemies clipping through floors and outside map boundaries.
The update also resolves multiplayer lobby issues and audio bugs. Tier 3 Firelight placement bugs have been resolved, ensuring proper positioning during intense paranormal encounters. Multiplayer lobby synchronization problems and audio desync issues affecting team coordination have also received targeted fixes to improve cooperative gameplay experiences.
Kinetic Games plans to share its remaining development roadmap for 2026 later this month, indicating continued support beyond the current patch cycle. Kinetic Games plans to share remaining development plans for 2026 later this month.
