Beethoven & Dinosaur has announced that the soundtrack for its upcoming game Mixtape will include tracks from Iggy Pop, Smashing Pumpkins, Joy Division, and DEVO. The developer has secured music licenses in perpetuity to prevent the game from being delisted due to expired rights.

Soundtrack includes Iggy Pop and Joy Division

Creative director Johnny Galvatron said he initially worried about using his favorite songs in the game. He feared it might ruin his enjoyment of the music. However, he now says that is not the case. Galvatron hopes the game will help players discover new music and engage with the scene.

The game's soundtrack is a core part of the experience. By securing the licenses permanently, Beethoven & Dinosaur ensures that Mixtape will not face the same delisting issues that have affected other music-heavy games. The developer has not announced a release date or pricing for Mixtape.

Galvatron described his hope that players will explore the music further and let it introduce them to new artists. He recalled his own experience as a scene kid selling tickets and t-shirts for bands. He praised the positive, art-centric nature of that community. Kotaku reported the news.
