Maxsun has released two new motherboards that bring laptop processors to the desktop market for under $250. These boards let builders use high-performance mobile chips in standard cases without buying a pre-built laptop. This approach offers a cheaper path to desktop gaming for budget-conscious users who want to upgrade components later.
Maxsun launches affordable motherboards with integrated Intel Raptor Lake-H processors
The lineup includes the MS-MoDT 230H D4 Wi-Fi and the MS-MoDT 205H D4 Wi-Fi. Both boards integrate Intel Raptor Lake-H system-on-chips directly onto the PCB. The higher-end 230H model uses the Core 7 230H with ten cores, while the 205H model uses the Core 5 205H with eight cores.

Each board features two DDR4-3200 DIMM slots for memory expansion. Storage options include two M.2 NVMe slots and two SATA III ports for additional drives. The boards also provide a PCIe 5.0 x8 slot for graphics cards and a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot for other expansion cards.
Both motherboards share a compact 190 x 180 mm form factor with mounting holes compatible with micro-ATX and mini-ITX cases. They include a socketed Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 combo card along with a Gigabit Ethernet port. The base power limit for the integrated SoCs is set at 85 watts.
Independent testing shows the boards perform similarly to entry-level and mid-range gaming laptops. The Core 5 205H model scored 2,764 in AIDA64 SHA3 tests and 779 in ZLib tests. The Core 7 230H model reached 3,651 in SHA3 and 1,034 in ZLib when running at 110 watts.
The MS-MoDT 230H D4 Wi-Fi is priced at $210 USD (around $210). The MS-MoDT 205H D4 Wi-Fi is priced at $150 USD (around $150). These prices make them accessible options for DIY desktop builds using mobile silicon.
