Lenovo has announced the Legion Y70, a new gaming smartphone designed to address the thermal and power demands of high-performance mobile gaming. The device centers on the recently introduced Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 system-on-chip. Lenovo positions this processor as a viable alternative to previous flagship chips by claiming it delivers performance comparable to the last-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The Legion Y70 features a substantial 8,000mAh battery to support extended gaming sessions. The phone utilizes a 2K high-speed display that Lenovo states offers better visuals while consuming less power than the 1.5K screens found on rival devices. Lenovo claims this combination allows the processor to maintain sustained performance even under heavy computational loads.

The Legion Y70 is scheduled to launch on May 19, 2026. Pricing for the device is listed at $849.50 for the 16GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. This price point places the Legion Y70 in direct competition with other high-end gaming phones like the RedMagic 11 Pro and the iQOO 15 Ultra.
