The developer doitsujin released DXVK 3.0.1 as a standalone update for the Direct3D-to-Vulkan translation layer. This software allows Windows applications using Direct3D 8, 9, 10, and 11 to run on Linux systems via Proton. The update targets both desktop GPUs and specific driver configurations for NVIDIA and Intel hardware.
DXVK 3.0.1 disables secondary command buffer usage on all desktop GPUs to prevent GPU hangs and rendering issues. The changelog notes that this change may slightly impact performance in a small number of games with suboptimal MSAA resolve patterns. The developer states that the main benefits of secondary command buffers are only seen on tiling GPUs anyway.
The update fixes a rendering regression affecting numerous D3D9 games, including Black Mesa, Gothic 3, and GTA IV on some drivers. It also resolves a severe performance regression in Kane & Lynch: Dead Men and King's Bounty: The Legend. Additional fixes address crashes when games unload D3D libraries and stuttering on 32-bit Nvidia drivers with descriptor heaps enabled.
