Hiring ads at porting studio Double Eleven have fans speculating that a Grand Theft Auto VI release on the Switch 2 is in the cards. The ads for the porting studio hint that they're gearing up to work on next-gen platforms, which is exciting for fans who are eagerly awaiting GTA's console debut. The new hires suggest that Double Eleven is ready for the next generation of Nintendo consoles.

Porting studio job postings hint at next-gen Nintendo work

Double Eleven has a reputation for working on major ports such as Red Dead Redemption. Right now, Double Eleven is hiring for a Lead C++ Programmer and a Low Level Graphics Specialist. The job listing makes clear that Double Eleven wants someone with a background in Switch and Switch 2 as a preferred requirement for the positions.

Soon after GoNintendo caught wind of the open positions, the gaming community began talking. People are curious if Double Eleven is gearing up to port GTA VI. But, it's not clear from the job listing exactly which game they'll be working on next, which makes it all a bit confusing.

Interestingly, the ads say that Red Dead Redemption 2 could be a port option, as well. Also, Nintendo of America President Devon Pritchard stated that if there is going to be a GTA VI port for the Switch 2, it's completely up to rights holders Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games. As of right now, we haven't seen a GTA VI Switch 2 announcement from either publisher.

So, at this point, a GTA VI port for the Switch 2 is just a rumor. It's important to see the hiring notifications as a reflection of studio capabilities, and not necessarily any one specific game in the works. We need to hear it straight from Rockstar or Take-Two for us to know for sure if a GTA port is happening.
