DJI has teased the Osmo Pocket 4P at the Cannes Film Festival ahead of its official launch. The new vlogging camera was shown to select media outlets, hinting at a significant upgrade over the current Osmo Pocket 4.
17 stops dynamic range confirmed
According to Adam Juniper of Digital Camera World, the Osmo Pocket 4P supports 17 stops of dynamic range through its 1-inch style primary lens. This is a notable improvement over the Osmo Pocket 4, which offers 14 stops. Juniper suggested that the increased dynamic range helps the camera achieve cinematic video quality, comparable to some small camera rigs.
The full extent of the camera's hardware improvements remains unknown, as DJI has not disclosed further details. The company has not confirmed a launch date or pricing for the Osmo Pocket 4P.
The Osmo Pocket 4P appears to be a mid-cycle refresh, following the Osmo Pocket 4 which launched earlier this year. DJI typically updates its vlogging camera lineup every two years, making this tease earlier than expected.
