The upcoming tenth anniversary of the survival horror game Dead by Daylight will trigger a complete visual and gameplay overhaul. Behaviour Interactive confirmed that this major update is scheduled to arrive in 2027. The developer emphasized that starting from scratch would mean discarding too much established content.

Behaviour Interactive unveils major visual and gameplay overhaul arriving in 2027
Creative Director Dave Richards stated the goal is to create something distinct rather than merely continuing the existing title. The team wants the next decade of the game to surpass the first ten years. This overhaul represents a fundamental shift in how the core experience will function.
A separate development team is currently building this new version while the main squad handles ongoing maintenance. The update aims to heighten fear and suspense through improved lighting, shading, and dynamic weather systems. Character animations have also been redesigned to enhance immersion during gameplay.
Behaviour Interactive plans to introduce creative modding support for player-created content. A new 1v1 symmetrical game mode is set to launch in early 2027 as a prototype. Additional modes, including a zombie experience, remain in active development.
