SOFTWARE AND UPDATES

AlphaTheta and Bitwig are bridging the gap between DJ libraries and music production with a new subscription-based service called the Studio Plan. This seamless integration gives DJs the ability to take tracks from their performance library and easily drop them into a digital audio workstation, without the need for manual file handling or adjusting tempo. Now DJs can use their rekordbox libraries as inspiration to remix and manipulate the tracks in a creative way. This new integration makes things much easier for those who use both applications for different parts of the creative process.

New subscription service bridges DJ libraries and music production

The key part of this integration is Bitwig Studio 6.1.4, which now has native support for importing rekordbox library data. As we read from the source, you'll be able to pull in data such as BPM and musical key, Hot Cues, track structure, etc. from your rekordbox files. You'll be able to open the song as a project, with the tempo and key all matched.

The cue points you're familiar with will turn into markers you can use to reorder sections. It's a way to bridge the gap between live performance preparation and studio editing.

Studio Plan's subscription grants users access to Bitwig Studio Essentials, which means you get 40 instruments and effects, plus 10 modulators to experiment with. All of that helps support the creativity that's now possible thanks to the integration with rekordbox. As part of the subscription, you also get a 30-day free trial for new users, so you can try it out and see all the great features the software offers and how the integration works. The update also includes a stem separation tool in the works, which will let users split things out like vocals, drums, bass, etc., but that's not part of the integration yet.

For Studio Plan's subscription, it'll cost users $7 a month or $72 a year in the US. And if you're in Europe, you'll pay €7 a month or €72 annually to subscribe. The service is now available to use, and there's a 30-day free trial for new users. These rates are great, making the integration affordable for DJs looking to add some new production tools to their arsenal without having to pay for multiple software licenses.
