Apple released macOS 27 Golden Gate, a major update for Mac computers that shifts the operating system toward deeper artificial intelligence integration. The release brings a redesigned interface and faster application performance to users who upgrade their systems.

Mac OS update adds Apple Intelligence tools and faster app launches

Apple designed the update to support every Mac model that was eligible for prior macOS releases. It replaces the traditional Siri voice assistant with an AI model that handles natural language commands and accesses screen content directly for context-aware responses.

Apple optimized the Liquid Glass design by adding adjustable transparency settings and standardizing window corner radii across the interface. The company claims these changes, combined with code preloading into RAM, allow apps to launch up to 30 percent faster than before.

Data transfer speeds through AirDrop increase by up to 80 percent under the new architecture. New Apple Intelligence tools include Home app object recognition using device cameras, Safari tab grouping, AI-generated browser extensions, and system-wide Writing Tools for text editing.

Image Playground generates custom visuals from user prompts while photo expansion extends image boundaries. The Spatial Reframing feature allows users to adjust the viewpoint of photos or videos while preserving the original subject matter. These features expand the native capabilities of the operating system beyond previous releases.

The company also unveiled iOS 27 during the presentation, ensuring support for every iPhone capable of running iOS 26. This mobile version mirrors the desktop updates in both visual style and speed, while also introducing improved Flyover visuals within Apple Maps.

Apple stated that the lineup of compatible devices remains unchanged for both operating systems. The public release of these updates is scheduled for the autumn season after early developer betas are completed.
