Microsoft released Windows 11 build 26300.8497 to the Experimental channel on May 22, 2026. The update targets users testing early software features and introduces several accessibility improvements alongside reliability fixes.
New accessibility settings reduce eye strain and improve audio processing for users
The most notable addition is a system-wide screen tint setting designed to reduce eye strain. This feature applies a color overlay across the entire display to soften its intensity. Narrator also gains plug-and-play support for HID-standard refreshable Braille displays. Users can connect these devices via USB or pair them through Windows Settings using Bluetooth.
Voice Access receives a new voice isolation toggle that processes audio locally on the device. The setting strips nearby speech and background noise while keeping all processing on the machine. Microsoft also addressed several stability issues in this release. Fixes target explorer.exe crash loops, duplicated quick settings, broken IME candidate windows, and random audio muting.
Build 26300.8497 is one of four simultaneous Insider flights released alongside Beta build 26220.8491. The update also ships with Experimental 26H1 build 28020.2149 and Experimental Future Platforms build 29595.1000. Microsoft replaced the former Canary channel with this new Experimental Future Platforms track.
Microsoft has not confirmed whether these accessibility features will reach stable releases or other Insider channels in the near future.
