ReLU Games has dropped the 'Off the Rails' update for their co-op horror title 'Mimesis' to celebrate their first year in Early Access. This major patch alters the very fabric of the game, adding a new film studio location and the 'Paranoia' mechanic that makes you doubt everything. These changes are important because this update changes the fundamentals of co-op interactions and team survival, moving past simply 'avoid the monster' to also include psychological doubt. Any strategies you might be used to will have to adjust as the game changes.

New film studio map and smarter AI challenge co-op trust

The new 'Off the Rails' update is all about the new film studio map. This is where you'll be tasked to complete your objectives while dodging three new monsters. These new monsters have seen changes to their AI.

They're now more observant, mirroring player actions and making it hard to tell if it's a human or a replacement. To add to the confusion, the Paranoia mechanic means players will see different outcomes of the same scenario due to rising contamination levels. This makes trust a limited commodity as the match goes on.

Apart from these new monsters and hazards, there are more gadgets, traps and service stations that get thrown into the mix. The devs have been working on ramping up the tension by making the AI enemies more aware and responsive to player movements. Although these improvements on AI behaviors are developer claims, not independent performance results. There's even a tagline for the update: 'Mimesis: Off the Rails – trust nobody, not even your senses'.

Please note, your saved files are not compatible with this update. Controls have also been reset for key bindings due to new controls. 'Mimesis' is on sale for $3.99 right now (60% off for Halloween event) from the usual $9.99. So it's an affordable starter point to check out the anniversary content. This major update is a big step for the game as it continues its development in Early Access.

ReLU Games' 'Off the Rails' patch is a major update to 'Mimesis'. It adds new threats and psychological elements to the game. It's their first anniversary with the new content they bring.

It challenges your co-op elements and perception. With this current discount, it's a good time to hop in and become part of the community with this huge content drop. We see that ReLU Games is dedicated to improve the core horror loop of the game.
