Update: Sony did not stop ps5-linux-loader to get support for PS5 Pro. The reason this is important is that it now gives the user the ability to run linux on the latest console and the older ones. What this does is give the user the ability to take the most out of the OS on a console that generally limits this ability.
Linux loader update adds Bluetooth, Ethernet, and 4K 60Hz HDMI to PS5 Pro consoles
PS5-Linux-Loader now includes PS5-Pro, PS5 Phat, and PS5-Slim. This is a software project that gives users the ability to get a Linux OS installed on these variants of the hardware. This means that you will have a different computing experience with your gaming console.
- Supported Firmware Versions: 3.00 to 13.60
- Video Output: 4K 60 Hz via HDMI
- Connectivity: Bluetooth, Ethernet, all USB ports
This supports all the variants from firmware 3.00 – 13.60. All Bluetooth, ethernet, and USB ports are working with this. Also, HDMI video output is working with 4K 60Hz.
The development team is 7 developers who use AI, such as Claude, for development. This comes after the security researcher, Andy TheFow Nguyen, abandoned the project after the hypervisor vulnerability was made public. We discussed Sony patches PS5 firmware vulnerabilities, forced in a previous Sony story.
We now have the PS5-Pro with third-party Linux support with fw versions 3.00 – 13.60. What this means for the PS5 Pro is that the networking and display functions are added to its modding scene. This means that if you have a supported fw version, you can use this feature now.
