The Corsair RM1200e power supply is out now, and that's a big deal for high-end gaming PC builders. This is for people who want a solid power supply for the latest graphics cards without worrying about them bricking the components from power issues. So this is aimed at people who are upgrading their graphics cards quite frequently.
Corsair's new 1200W power supply features PinProtect for GPU safety
The new Corsair power supply is the RM1200e, which is a 1200W modular PSU designed for ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1. It has a native 12V-2×6 connector for the latest graphics cards support right out of the box. The RM1200e is available in both black and white colors for different build aesthetics.
Specifications
- Model: RM1200e
- Wattage: 1200W
- Certification: Cybenetics Platinum
- Standards: ATX 3.1, PCIe 5.1
- Efficiency: 91%

Corsair's new safety system is called PinProtect, which continuously tracks the power supply on every pin in real-time. It will automatically lower the power and shut down if it detects a current passing a certain limit. This is done to reduce the risk of your GPU or PSU failing due to power supply anomalies.

The power supply has a Cybenetics Platinum certification with up to 91% overall efficiency. It uses Japanese 105C capacitors. It's also a pretty compact design with only a 150mm depth for easier installation. You also get a 10 year warranty for long-term durability.
The RM1200e is available now in the US at $204.99. So this is a premium power supply for people who want some serious protection. Just keep in mind that the source doesn't mention if PinProtect will work with a 12V-2×6 adapter or not.
The previous generation of Corsair RM power supplies didn't have this per-pin monitoring solution. This means the RM1200e brings some new hardware protections over previous generations. So Corsair is expanding their lineup with a focus on safety and efficiency.
