The Anniversary Update for Drill Core is now live on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, bringing structural changes to the base-building strategy game. This update matters because it introduces a Relaxed Mode for players who want a less stressful experience and adds tools to manage base defenses more effectively. We can finally see how much damage our turrets deal after a match ends, which helps us tweak our strategies for future contracts.
New features include contract escalation and x3 game speed options
tinyBuild and Hungry Couch released this update to support the game across its major platforms. The patch adds a new building type that lets players complete sponsor tasks during active contracts for extra rewards. It also allows players to hire additional Specialists beyond the starting roster, though each specialist can only be hired once per contract.
Technical adjustments include the ability to inspect your base while selecting a Technology or Distortion upgrade. The game now features a x3 speed option in the settings, joining the existing x2 speed. The tutorial has been improved with tips that appear in a more logical sequence to help new players.
Players who launch the game before the end of September can claim three new platform skins for free. These skins are available for each platform individually. The Switch version of the Anniversary Update is scheduled for release at a later date.
We looked at Metal Slug Ultimate Collection Announced for earlier while tracking Tinybuild launches. The update also includes general balance changes to refine gameplay mechanics.
