Stardock Entertainment has opened a free playtest for Ashes of the Singularity II, giving players a chance to experience the sequel to its massive real-time strategy game. This early access opportunity matters because it allows the community to test the game's massive-scale combat mechanics before the final release. We can now see how the developers have scaled up their continent-sized battlefields for this next iteration.

Global access to massive-scale RTS combat begins now

The free playtest is available now on for global access. Players can download the build and jump directly into multiplayer matches without any purchase required. The game focuses on large-scale strategic engagements where players command either the United Earth Forces (UEF) or the Post-Human Coalition (PHC).

This playtest run is scheduled to end on September 14th. During this window, users can explore the core gameplay loops and faction dynamics that define the title. The developers are using this period to gather feedback on the multiplayer experience before committing to a final launch date.

The final version of the game is planned to include both campaign and multiplayer modes. However, Stardock has not provided an estimated time of arrival for the full commercial release. We do not yet know when the complete package will be available for purchase, so players should enjoy this free window while it lasts.
